Vintage Unrestored 10¢ Vendo H81-B Coca-Cola Vending Machine. The Vendo H81 is not just a classic Coke machine It is an investment. Most have been restored and a lucky few, like this one, are too nice for restoration. All the rest are usually missing the coin mechanical pieces or coin doors. As you probably already know this is one of the most sought after vending machines of all times.
This one is only missing the key, which was lost to the ages. Is distinguished by a "centered" "Coca-Cola" logo and painted with the familiar "White Top". This B version along with the A version of the V-81 are frequently called "Small Door" 81's due to the small coin door like on the V-39. The Designation H81B indicates it was a Coca Cola machine, serving up to 81 bottles, up to 12oz bottles. This particular unit pre-cools 17 bottles, and with 9 shelves, it can simultaneously dispense up to 9 flavors in various sized bottles making it one of the most desired vintage soda machines with collectors.
The shelves are adjustable so you can fit different sized bottles including long neck beer bottles. The bottle sizes in Ounces include 6.5 to 12 ounce bottles.Earlier Coke machines vend only the one size bottle at 6.5 oz. It runs on household 110Vac. The height is about 58 ½ , Width is 27, and depth is 16 to the front of the door, 22 to the coin insert. Weight is about 290 lbs.
This size makes it desirable for an office or home vending machine. This is a Vendo H81B model. These were manufactured from Mid to. Late 1950s and feature the rounded top.
The lights still work, and the compressor reduces the temperature to 33. F at ½ the maximum thermostat setting.
It is not repainted, that is the original finish. Sure it has some character marks keeping in from a near mint condition, and a few spider-webs, but a little vacuuming and elbow grease and it is ready to display. The guts tell a good story, minimal rust on the galvanized trays.
Again, this is a great displayable vintage Coca Cola Vending machine that is sure to appreciate with time as most of these have been beaten beyond repair or are fully restored. Faults as far as I can find. The vent on the right side of the machine as you face the front has a few bent louvers. The coin door has a little waviness on the right side, likely due to trying to open or close the coin door without the Key.As noted the Key was lost to the ages. Spare parts and service manuals are readily available on-line. Also, Coke has brought back the 6.5 oz bottles, and these wont vend in earlier models, but this H81B dispenses them with ease.
