Here is an original Coke Vendo 81-D, the most desirable of all the vintage Coca Cola vending machines, and at an exceptional price. It has been in our family for over half a century, is in good working order now and is an excellent candidate for full restoration to bring it back to factory-fresh glory. There are no dents or scratches. Place it in your den or game room, plug it in and it will keep you favorite bottled beverages frosty cold.
Dec 15: After several requests for "more pictures" I made some iPhone snapshots of both sides, the back and the interior of the vending machine and posted them today. I see no signs of rust, but of course this machine has lived its life on the dry plains of Colorado. There are no "bad sides" as evidenced by these snapshots. The machine could use a good cleaning but works well now.
I don't believe it was used at all during the 1980s and 1990s and before his death. We have used it from time to time since then--often for several months at a time--and it always keeps bottled beverages frosty cold. This is the model'D' which is unique from earlier models insofar as it could accept a quarter and give back nickels in change. I'd be surprised if the changer works now without a good cleaning and lubrication at the appropriate points, but we never used it in our shop.Soda was more than a dime even fifty years ago and we left the key in the door and operated on the honor system; take out what drink you desired and drop a quarter in the coin collector inside the door. This is, by all accounts, an exceptional Vendo 81; lightly used and not abused. It will not be available very long.
